Jazz festivals in the summer
This summer, going on a trip, be sure to check out one of European jazz festivals in Rotterdam, on the French Riviera in Vienna, or perhaps in the suburbs of Lyon, where you will enjoy music in the Roman amphitheatre. Famous jazz festival in Montreux, Switzerland, will be held at 46 times: this year you will hear Jane Birkin and Bob Dylan.
Jazz has long enjoyed in the Old World no less popular than in their native States, and sometimes more – many famous American musicians permanently settled in Europe. Along with them in this unique place, where the Mediterranean sea meets the Maritime Alps, and are more known outside of jazz artists, for example, known from hit Sex Bomb singer Tom Jones . soul group Kool & The Gang . and two daughters of Ravi Shankar (though in separate concerts): playing Indian sitar Anouska Shankar and multiple winner of the Grammy award-winning singer Norah Jones .
Younger, but incredibly intense festival Jazz À Vienne in Vienne . the suburbs of Lyon, is held in the Roman amphitheatre two weeks – from June 28 to July 13. Consonant with the French Vienna, the Austrian capital Vienna for ten years has successfully proved to the world that not a single waltz city alive. For two weeks (June 25-July 9) Vienna will provide the festival Jazz Fest Wien their best sites.

Parallel to the main program to Chillon castle, a series of piano recitals will give the German record label ACT, specializing in the intersection of modern jazz and classical traditions. Pole Leszek Mozdzer will present its vision of the national music history from Frederic Chopin to-talk, Free German Michael – a similar review from Schubert to electronics of Kraftwerk, and living in France Israeli Yaron Herman will take the “carte Blanche” works of Debussy.
Equally famous Dutch festival called “jazz at the North Sea” ( North Sea Jazz in Rotterdam is not as extended in time (this year from July 6 to 8), but takes place simultaneously on a dozen sites, named after various rivers of the world: the Amazon, the Mississippi, Hudson, Nile, Tigris, Congo and even the Volga river with the Yenisei.

Jazz festivals both in sultry Italy and in the Nordic countries, both in the Eastern capital of Europe – Istanbul and Western extremities: this year the first international festival Gibjazzfest (28-30 June) will be held in Gibraltar – “overseas” of the British province in the Pyrenees. In the UK this year marks the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth.
